Risk

                                                         To laugh is to risk appearing a fool

To weep is to risk appearing sentimental

To reach out to another is to risk involvement

To express feelings is to risk exposing your true self

To place your ideas or dreams before the crowd is to risk their loss.

To love is to risk not being loved in return

To live is to risk dying

To hope is to risk despair

To try is to risk failure

But risks must be taken.

Because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.

The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, and is nothing.

You may avoid suffering and sorrow if you don't risk, but you simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love or live.

Only a person who risks is ever truly free!

I posted this about 4 years ago, but I feel it is more poignant now than ever. Sometimes you have to risk everything you know in order to grow and change. I have some changes happening in my life right now that will only happen if I am willing to take the risk. The risk of failure. The risk of looking stupid. The risk of truely living!
